Women’s Health

I am all about making your HORMONES HAPPY!

If your hormones are happy, your body and mind are in balance and thriving. To delve in to you hormonal health, I look at emotions, nutrition, your lifestyle, physical symptoms, digestion, liver and bowel function – all these affect the balance of our hormones.
Treatments involve a carefully considered and effective approach that incorporates one or a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, food as medicine and lifestyle interventions such as exercise and mindfulness.

I also help women gain a greater understanding and better insight into their hormonal cycles; how it all works, what the hormones are doing, and how they may feel emotionally different from week to week. This means women can work with and trust their natural rhythms and cycles, leading to more positive long term health outcomes.

Some of the conditions I may help you with;

  • Pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS)
  • Amenorrhea (absence of periods)
  • Dysmenorrhea (painful periods)
  • Menorrhagia (heavy menstrual periods)
  • Short / Long menstrual cycles
  • Menopause
  • PCOS
  • Endometriosis

For centuries, women have used herbal and food medicine to balance their menstrual cycle, support ovarian function and improve hormone metabolism. Selected herbs and nutrients help to improve estrogen, or progesterone, decrease hormonal symptoms and regulate the cycle.

Acupuncture is used to treat a variety of women’s health conditions such as painful periods, irregular or absent cycle, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome and PMS. As with all treatments, consideration of all aspects of health and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your condition are taken in to account to create a treatment plan specific to you. Acupuncture addresses blockages and deficiencies in the blood that could be causing disharmony and throwing your hormones out of balance.

I combine acupuncture with infrared heat lamp, moxibustion, cupping, massage and meditation to assist the regulation of hormones and the cycle, as well as calm the mind where stress is often a compounding factor for many women’s conditions.

I am also able to refer for a range of blood tests such as salivary hormone testing and thyroid testing, where required.
